The on-loan striker expressed his delight after netting his first goal for the Red Devils in a 5-0 thumping of Club Brugge.
Weeks after making a sensational switch to Manchester United from Shanghai Shenhua to fulfill a childhood dream, Odion Ighalo scored on his full home debut for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men on Thursday.
The unimaginable dream continues to get even better for Ighalo as the 30-year-old makes the most of his full debut to help United advance to the next stage of the Europa League.
On an unforgettable night for player and club alike, Ighalo became the first-ever Nigerian to score for the Old Trafford giants.
It was not the greatest goal – a tap-in from six yards out following a fine Juan Mata pull back – Ighalo has scored, but it is one he won’t forget in a hurry.
“Yeah, it is a great moment,” Ighalo told BT Sport via Manchester Evening News.
“I have been waiting for this, played three games, though I didn’t play much and no goals. A little bit of pressure, but now I got a goal to start my Manchester United goal career, and it is a team I have supported since I was young, so it is very good, I am very happy, and I am grateful to God.
“It is a big dream, and realizing the dream makes it even greater, so I thank God for this, and I am very happy.”
Twitter is still in a state of meltdown since the former Super Eagles ace found the back of the net.
