The 2019 CAF awards hold today in Egypt with Asisat Oshoala, Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen up for the Women’s player of the year, and Young player of the year respectively.
Oshoala will go up against Cameroon’s Ajara Nchout and South Africa’s Thembi Kgatlana for the Women’s player of the year award- a prize she has won three times.
If she wins tonight, Oshoala will equal the record of former Super Falcons forward Perpetua Nkwocha who holds the record of highest no of wins in the category (4).
Although Nigeria’s Super Falcons will not be playing at the Olympics, it was still a good year for Oshoala, leading Nigeria to the second round of the FIFA Women’s world cup.
At club level, she was part of the Barcelona team that finished as runners-up in the UEFA Women’s Champions League last season.
