After providing an assist and scoring a goal in PAOK Thessaloniki’s 3-0 win away at Panaitolikos on Sunday, former Arsenal forward, Chuba Akpom, was voted the Man of the Match by the club’s fans.
The former Brighton star was named the best player on the pitch in the champion’s dominant win over Panetolikos, picking up 50% of the total votes cast.
Dimitris Pelkas handed PAOK a 7th minute lead at Agrinio against the team at the bottom of the league, but victory was not sealed until Akpom was introduced just past the hour mark.
The 24-year-old made his mark minutes after he got on, surging past an opposing defender to supply the cross which Dimitris Limnios tapped home to make it 2-0.
But the former England youth international, who switched his allegiance to Nigeria three months ago, was not finished yet.
Three minutes later, Akpom got his goal, running on to a fine through ball from Misic to side-foot a fine finish past the Panaitolikos goalkeeper. It was Akpom’s 6th goal in all competitions for the Greek champions and his third in 13 league matches.
The win ensured that PAOK continued their unbeaten run in the Greek Super League after 14 games. The Black-Whites, however, remain in second spot on goal difference as they boast the same points tally as Olympiacos – who won 5-0 at Tripolis also on Sunday.
