The Sporting Director of German club Borussia Dortmund Michael Zorc has ruled out the possibility of central defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos leaving the Signal Iduna park to join Atletico Madrid this summer, stating that there’s no chance of him leaving.
Just after it was confirmed that star defender Mats Hummels was heading to Bayern Munich, top German source BILD reported that Dortmund’s second Central defender Sokratis might be heading to Spain to join Atletico Madrid, but Michael Zorc has refuted that claim in his recent interview.
“We are not even considering letting go of Sokratis,” Zorc made it known in an interview with Kicker.
Sokratis has been a crucial figure for Borussia Dortmund and has featured 40 times for Tuchel’s men. The 27-year old has a contract at the club until June 2019 and Dortmund are no way going to let go of another crucial central defender of theirs after Mats Hummels’ move.
