Atlanta Olympic gold medalist, Joseph Dosu has said that Nigeria’s U-23 team would overcome their Denmark counterpart in the quarter final of the Rio Olympic Games on Saturday.
Both teams met at the Suwon four nation invitational tournament in June where Denmark annihilated Nigeria 6-2, to record a brilliant victory. The Danish team qualified second behind hosts Brazil with four points in group A while Nigeria topped group B with six points.
Interestingly, the two teams lost their final group games as Brazil thrashed Denmark 4-0 while Colombia walloped Nigeria 2-0 in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Dosu, who spoke with Soccernet.com.ng believed that coach Samson Siasia led team has what it takes to overcome Denmark on Saturday.
“It’s an interesting setting that Nigeria will be facing Denmark in the quarter final of the Rio Olympic Games after they bashed us 6-2 at the Suwon four nation tournament,” Dosu told Soccernet.com.ng
“I am quite sure the Nigerian team won’t want to fall to that same scoreline again, a situation which will propel them not just to avenge the defeat but qualify for the semi final of the Olympic Games.” he said.
