Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick has revealed plans to convince Chelsea forward, Tammy Abraham to play for the Super Eagles. Pinnick made this known on Tuesday.
Pinnick made this known on Tuesday, where he stated that Abraham could pick up from where retired Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo stopped with the senior national team.
Recall that the football body have made efforts to lure the former England U-21 star to represent Nigeria prior to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
He said: ‘We will not relent in our quest for good players to play for the country and win laurels. We will keep talking to good players of Nigeria descent to play for their fatherland.
‘But like you know, these kids are very independent-minded. In fact, we have been told to wait until April 2020, when he hopes to make a final decision on the matter.
‘I told him that he stood a better chance of playing regularly for Nigeria than with England, which has a galaxy of strikers of the English stock.’
Abraham has made a strong start to the season for Chelsea with four goals in six games after being given his chance in the first team by new boss Frank Lampard.
The striker has also earned 25 caps for England Under-21s, scoring nine goals, but is no longer eligible due to his age.
It’s like Mr. Amaju does not have anything serious doing? Please for goodness sake, what is Abraham playing in Chelsea to warrant this comment. A lot of our player who have expressed interest and working and playing great for their respective clubs are pleading for an opportunity to show their talents but no one is looking their way. But here is the Amaju practically begging someone who plays shit and don’t know where the goal post is to come play for our national team. A big shame on you Amaju.
mr amaju doing his work nd to begging some one to play for nigerial to me is nt bad at all though i hoping super eagle has miss there best strike odio ighalo nd tammy is the perfect replacement to him,
First of all Mr amaju or whatever your name is .stop disrespecting good quality players in Victor Osimhen ,Taiwo Awoniyi etc.he is not an extra ordinary player probably on same level with the aforementioned.V.osimhen has better qualities to lead Nigeria super eagles attack and the u17 2015 all time record breaker of 10 goals should be super eagles Top 9 n into the future.who is Tammy Abraham?? cos he is playing in Chelsea means nuffing.we don’t need him.simple!!.
I’m going to tell Nigerians this it’s sad but the it’s the truth. if Rohr remains Nigeria coach till next AFCON and world cup we will keep searching for players abroad , no tactical discipline,no quality game plan nor technique and will never have any first 11 ,just trial n error approach as usual.
Victor Osimhem is far better than this guy, If he wants to come on his own, that is ok but to go out to bag him is wrong.
Amaju, you are almost begging Tamuno to please play for Nigeria??!! When are you going to start working on the Nigerian Premier, so we can have a Nigerian national team comprising SIXTY percent well honed home based players? I thought this perpetual experimenting (three years, still ongoing), rootless football tradition we have embarked upon was the Idea of Coach Gernot Rohr. But this has opened my eyes to the realities of what is going on in our football house. Now I know why our home clubs are not excelling at continental club competitions. For three years now, no Nigerian could correctly mention the names of a standard first eleven players that would represent them on the globe! The Nigerian Premier League will be technically dead by the time Pinnick leaves office. You can quote me…
The guy is good, i want him and fikayo tomori
