Chelsea defender David Luiz is set to undergo a medical at Arsenal ahead of his move to join the Blues rivals. The Brazilian star who signed a two-year contract at Stamford Bridge last May missed Chelsea’s training on Wednesday.
Although Chelsea refused to confirm his reason for missing training, they revealed Blues manager, Frank Lampard will give details at his press conference ahead of Blues opening Premier League encounter against Manchester United.
Nevertheless, the former Benfica star is now expected to join the Blues London rivals before the deadline day according to SkySports.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery revealed the club are working hard to bring in a centre back after the departure of Laurent Koscielny who left for Ligue1 side, Bordeaux.
“We tried to sign some important, expensive players for our defence. But when we can’t do that, the second line players don’t really convince us to sign them.”
“If we can on the last day, we will try to sign another centre-back, but one who has the capacity to help us,” said Emery. “We have a lot of defensive players. Maybe, it is different when Laurent Koscielny tells us he wanted to leave.
The Gunners kick-off their Premier League campaign on Sunday when they travel to the North-East to take on Newcastle.
