Real Madrid has completed their first signing under Zinedine Zidane second spell as the European Champions activated the release clause of €50million (£42.6m) from Porto defender Eder Militao.
Los Blancos will pay €50 million to trigger his release clause with Porto. That release clause would have been increased to €75 million in June, so Real Madrid took advantage of that situation and decided to add some depth to the squad.
Militao is a young centr-back who completed some highlighted performances this season. The arrival of former Real Madrid defender Pepe has forced him to play as a right-back after the winter transfer window.
He would compete for a spot with Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane in the starting lineup, though it is understood that he will spend some time in the reserves.
His signing could force Nacho or Jesus Vallejo out of the club.
