Yerry Mina for Palmeiras |
With Mascherano and Jeremy Mathieu wearing out slowly, FC Barcelona are preparing for the future and are scouting a good number of central defenders, one of these players is Colombian defender Yerry Mina.
Yerry Mina is a gigantic central defender who plays for Brazilian club Palmeiras and the Colombian national team, Barça have been following him for months and have reached a preliminary agreement to sign him. This was confirmed by the player’s representative Jair Mina who stated on Sunday morning that they have a pre-agreement with Barça and there’s a high chance the player joins the Catalans, although several other clubs are interested in his services.
“A preliminary agreement was signed and there is a possibility that the boy (Yerri Mina) arrives at Barcelona,” Jair Mina, Yerri’s uncle and agent said in an interview with Caracol Radio.
His representative also stated that he had a meeting with scouts from FC Barcelona in the Colombia vs Uruguay game on Tuesday who came to watch his nephew in action but also made it clear that only a preliminary agreement was signed so there is also an open door for other teams and Yerri’s arrival to Camp Nou will be decided on certain factors and circumstances including the player’s desire.
Yerry Mina is 22 and is being scouted by top clubs. He’s a very physical defender, 1.95m in height. He has featured in 7 league appearances for Palmeiras so far in 2016, scoring 4 goals and also have four caps with Colombia.
