Report: Victor Osimhen set to take wage cut for LaLiga move

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been linked with a transfer to three La Liga giants this summer — Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atlético Madrid, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian forward has been at Galatasaray for the last two years, first arriving on loan before joining them permanently last summer.

Premier League sides Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham have also been linked with him, but it is unlikely either club will go all out to land him this summer due to the high financial demands of the deal.

Meanwhile, La Liga's big three have all been linked with Osimhen at various points this summer. Real Madrid were initially linked following rumors surrounding José Mourinho, an admirer of the Super Eagles star, while Barcelona entered the conversation due to their ongoing need for a new number 9 following Robert Lewandowski's exit.

Atlético Madrid, on the other hand, view Osimhen as a potential replacement for Julián Álvarez, who has been linked with an exit.

Securing Osimhen's signature would be a massive financial undertaking for any of these clubs, given that he currently earns a gross salary of €20 million a year at Galatasaray, alongside the Turkish club's high valuation that runs north of €100 million.

However, recent reports from Mundo Deportivo suggest that the Super Eagles star is willing to take a pay cut to facilitate a transfer to Atlético Madrid.

If his purported move to Atlético eventually happens, it could trigger a domino effect, with Álvarez potentially heading to Barcelona — a deal that would likely prove even more financially demanding than Osimhen's.

The 27-year-old marksman has consistently stated that he is very happy at Galatasaray. But in previous interviews, he has expressed his desire to play in the Premier League. But as it stands, a switch to Spain currently appears more likely.

He is expected to make a decision in the coming days, though any move remains dependent on whether Atlético officially submit an offer. It is also important to consider that Galatasaray are in no rush to sell, since the striker has three years left on his contract.
