The AS Roma winger was handed her first start of the tournament by head coach Justine Madugu for Nigeria's final Group C fixture on Wednesday night, and she rewarded that faith with one of the standout displays of the competition.

Babajide tormented Egypt's defence throughout the contest with her pace, quick footwork and sharp decision-making. Her creativity proved decisive as she played a major role in helping the Super Falcons book a place in the quarter-finals.

After receiving the Player of the Match award, Babajide shared her delight on social media.

Babajide's influence was felt from the opening whistle as she repeatedly stretched Egypt's back line and created chances for her teammates.

Her first decisive contribution came in first-half stoppage time when she delivered a perfectly weighted pass for Gift Monday, who finished calmly to give Nigeria a 2-0 lead in the 44th minute.

Egypt reduced the deficit just before the break, but Babajide responded shortly after the restart. In the 57th minute, she created another opening, this time setting up substitute Uchenna Kanu to restore Nigeria's two-goal advantage at 3-1.

The winger continued to trouble Egypt for the remainder of the game, constantly driving at defenders and creating opportunities as Nigeria completed an impressive 6-2 victory.

The result secured an impressive recovery in Group C. Nigeria opened their campaign with a disappointing 3-2 defeat to tournament debutants Malawi before bouncing back with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zambia. The convincing win over Egypt ensured the Super Falcons finished second in the group on six points.

Malawi also ended with six points to top the standings, while Zambia missed out despite matching Nigeria's points tally. Head-to-head results and goal difference between the tied teams were used to separate the sides, with goals scored against bottom-placed Egypt excluded from the tie-break calculations.

Nigeria will now face long-time rivals Cameroon in the quarter-finals in Casablanca, where Babajide's outstanding display against Egypt has strengthened her case to remain in Madugu's starting XI as the Super Falcons continue their quest for another WAFCON title.
