Bundesliga side Hamburg are closing in on a deal to sign Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi from French club Nice, Soccernet.ng reports.
Moffi’s future has been uncertain throughout the summer, although it has been widely expected that he would leave Nice after three-and-a half years at the club.
The 27-year-old joined Nice from fellow Ligue 1 side Lorient during the winter transfer window in 2023, initially on loan before the move was made permanent after he impressed during his time at the club.
In his first full season with Nice, Moffi finished as the club’s top scorer in Ligue 1 with 11 goals. However, his relationship with the club later turned sour, after that season.

Moffi and some of his teammates were assaulted by sections of the club’s supporters following a Ligue 1 defeat to Lorient in November 2025, which marked a run of six consecutive league defeats.
The Super Eagles striker has played for the club since that incident. Instead, he joined Portuguese giants Porto on loan for the second half of last season, where he helped them win the Portuguese league title.
Porto eventually decided against triggering the €8 million clause required to sign him permanently and Moffi has since returned to Nice this summer as Nice continues to find a solution for his future.
Terem Moffi: Hamburg reach agreement to sign Super Eagles forward
According to L’Équipe, Hamburg have now reached an agreement with Nice over a transfer for Moffi, bringing the Nigerian forward closer to a move to the Bundesliga.

The exact details of the agreement have not been made officially diclosed, including whether the deal is a permanent transfer or a loan move.
However, reaching an agreement with Nice represents a major step forward, with Moffi now expected to reach an agreement on personal terms with the German club before the transfer can be completed.
The Super Eagles star is keen to leave Nice and does not want to return to playing for the French club. However, Moffi could still have other options to consider, with Turkish Super Lig clubs Samsunspor and Besiktas also showing interest in him this summer.
Despite that interest, Hamburg have shown the strongest push for his signature and have now taken a major step towards completing the transfer.
Nice are also keen to find a solution for Moffi as they look to free up space in their squad for other additions this summer.

According to Capology, Moffi currently earns around €3.14 million annually plus bonuses at Nice and could have to accept a pay cut to make a move to Hamburg possible.
If personal terms can be agreed, the Super Eagles forward will be set to begin the next chapter of his career in Germany, where he will hope to rediscover his best form and make a strong impact with Hamburg.
