Belgian giants Genk are closing in on a deal to sign Super Eagles forward Rafiu Durosinmi from Pisa this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.
Durosinmi only joined Pisa during the winter transfer window after impressing at Czech club Viktoria Plzeň. However, his move to Italy did not go as planned.
The Nigerian striker managed just one goal in 12 appearances as Pisa endured a disappointing campaign and finished bottom of the Serie A table, suffering relegation to Serie B.
Despite that setback, the 23-year-old now appears set for a fresh start, with Genk moving closer to completing a deal that would see him leave Italy only a few months after arriving.
According to Footy-Africa, the Belgian club are in the final stages of negotiations to sign Durosinmi as a key attacking addition ahead of the new season.
Talks have progressed well, with only a few details left to be resolved. The transfer fee is expected to be between €10 million and €11 million, which would represent a new club-record signing for Genk.
Genk hoping Durosinmi continues Super Eagles success story
Belgian giants Genk have built a strong reputation for developing Super Eagles strikers and the club will hope Durosinmi can follow in the footsteps of Paul Onuachu and Tolu Arokodare.
Onuachu spent four successful years at Genk between 2019 and 2023, scoring an impressive 85 goals in 134 appearances across all competitions. The 32-year-old established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in Belgian football before completing a move to Southampton.
Interestingly, Durosinmi has also been linked with Trabzonspor this summer as a possible replacement for Onuachu should the experienced striker leave. Trabzonspor have already rejected two offers for Onuachu, who continues to attract interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
Arokodare is another Nigerian striker who enjoyed a successful spell at Genk before joining Premier League side Wolves last summer.
The Super Eagles forward finished as the Belgian Pro League's top scorer in his final season at the club, winning both the Golden Boot and the Ebony Shoe Award in 2025.
With Genk now on the verge of signing another Nigerian forward, Durosinmi will be hoping to continue the club's impressive tradition of helping Super Eagles strikers flourish.
Once the remaining details, mainly the payment structure and conditions are finalized, the Nigerian forward is expected to begin the next chapter of his career in the Belgian Pro League.
