Tottenham Hotspur had their woes compounded at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano tonight as they fell short to Ademola Lookman‘s Atletico Madrid, Soccernet.ng reports.
Igor Tudor's men came into the clash on the back of five straight losses in a season that has seen them hit rock bottom amidst domestic relegation battles.
Tudor took over three weeks ago, and surprisingly opted to start Czech goalkeeper Antonín Kinsky in goal over Gugliemo Vicario, and the decision backfired on the youngster's first UEFA Champions League start as he conceded three goals within fifteen minutes.

Lookman stars as Atletico Madrid trash Tottenham Hotspur
Diego Simeone's men started the game on the front foot, and just six minutes in, their pressure paid off.
Antonin Kinsky slipped after he passed the ball from the back, but his pass fell to Julian Alvarez, who worked the ball over to Llorente, who, in turn, side-footed his attempt into the bottom-left corner to take Los Rojiblancos a goal up.

Things went sour very quickly for Spurs as Antoine Griezmann doubled the lead eight minutes later. This time, Micky Van de Ven was a culprit of what appeared to be a slippery turf at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The former VfL Wolfsburg defender slipped after Pape Meta Sarr's pass came in, before Griezmann pounced and tucked the ball into the bottom-right for his 14th goal in all competitions this term.

Ademola Lookman's attempt on goal came a few minutes later, but like Kinsky and Van de Ven, the Nigerian slipped under pressure from Romero before sending his shot onto the crossbar.

Things got worse for Kinsky, who put up probably the worst goalkeeping appearance in the UEFA Champions League since Lorius Karius in the final of the 2018 edition.
Van de Ven's pass went back to the goalkeeper, but in his attempt to fire the ball further up the pitch, Kinsky miskicks the ball, and Julian Alvarez had an open goal to tap into for Atletico's third goal of the night.
Immediately, Igor Tudor readied Vicario to come on and took the young Kinsky out without showing any support to the goalkeeper.
Vicario made an immediate impact, denying Antoine Griezmann a goal from a free kick, but the ricochet was headed home by Robin Le Normand.

Tottenham pulled a goal back in the 26th minute, courtesy of Pedro Porro. The Spaniard touched the ball away from Ruggeri after latching onto Richarlison's pass before sliding past Oblak for his first goal of the season.

Tottenham grew into the game, but Simeone's men put the clash to bed in the 55th minute. Seconds after Jan Oblak denied Richarlison from a header, Atletico cleared the ball, and Griezmann flicked the ball into Julian Alvarez's path.
The Argentine had the entire pitch to sprint, and he did that before burying the ball beyond Vicario, although Lookman was an option to his left.

Lookman was taken off in the 69th minute. Seven minutes later, Spurs pulled one back through Dominic Solanke, but that would be all the action on the night, until next weekend when both sides meet at the London Stadium.
