Super Eagles of Nigeria have lined up an international friendly against the Jordan national football team, Soccernet.ng reports.
The match is set to take place in Amman, Jordan's capital, during the March international window (between March 23 and 31).
According to reports from Afrik-Foot, both federations have reached an agreement for the fixture, which will serve different purposes for the two sides as they plan for the months ahead.
Jordan vs Nigeria friendly set for March window
Jordan will use the game as part of preparations for their first-ever appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Middle Eastern nation has been grouped with African opposition, including Algeria's national football team, making a test match against Nigeria an ideal benchmark ahead of the global tournament.
For the Nigeria national football team, the friendly is also a timely opportunity to steady the ship after missing out on qualification through the African playoffs.
Head coach Eric Chelle is expected to use the encounter to assess new and emerging players while also rebuilding his squad as preparations begin for future competitions.
Nigeria still awaits FIFA's verdict after DR Congo playoff loss
Nigeria’s World Cup dream ended on the pitch after a penalty shootout defeat to the DR Congo national football team in the African qualifying playoffs held in Morocco. However, the matter remains unresolved off the field.
The Nigeria Football Federation lodged a formal protest with FIFA in December, alleging that DR Congo fielded ineligible players during the decisive tie. A ruling on the case is expected on 16 February 2026.
Should the decision go in Nigeria’s favour, the Super Eagles could still be drafted into the inter-confederation playoffs scheduled for next month in Mexico.
