Olisa Ndah’s agent, Mike Makaab, has denied claims linking the former Orlando Pirates defender with a move to Libyan club Al Shomooa SC, Soccernet.ng exclusively reports.
In recent weeks, the Nigerian international parted ways with the Buccaneers, and a quick report emerged not long after his exit that the defender will now ply his trade in Libya.
As earlier reported by Afrik Foot NG, the defender's father, who is also a former Rangers defender, Ndubuisi Ndah, has labelled the report “fake news”.
Agent shuts down Al-Shomooa SC switch
Speculation had emerged that Ndah, 28, might be moving to Libyan club Al Shomooa following his departure from Soweto-based club. However, the claims have been firmly denied by both his agent and his father.
“It’s not true,” Olisa Ndah’s agent, Mike Makaab, exclusively told Soccernet NG. When asked if there are any clubs on Ndah’s radar at the moment, he added: “Nothing immediately.”
Meanwhile, Ndah’s social media accounts continue to feature images of him in Orlando Pirates and Super Eagles jerseys, with no announcement from a new club posted as of now.
Ndah: Father debunks Libya move
Per Afrik Foot, Ndah's emphasised that his son has not agreed to any transfer to Libya. Both father and agent’s statements put an end to circulating speculation and confirm that Ndah remains a free agent, actively seeking opportunities to play regular football elsewhere.
Olisa Ndah leaves Orlando Pirates
Ndah officially parted ways with Orlando Pirates earlier this week, ending a three-and-a-half-year spell at the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) club.
He joined the Sea Robbers from the NPFL side Akwa United in 2021 and quickly established himself as a key figure in central defence.
During his time in South Africa, the former Remo Stars defender made 81 appearances across all competitions, starting 73 games and scoring once, against SuperSport United in the MTN8 in 2024. He also won the MTN8 Cup three times.
Injuries in the past year limited his involvement, and he did not feature at all this season. The emergence of younger defenders such as Mbokazi and Lebone Seema further restricted his opportunities in the team.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that the Club has reached a mutual agreement with defender Olisa Ndah to part ways,” the club said in a statement. “The Nigerian international requested an early release from his contract to pursue regular game time elsewhere as he enters the next phase of his career. The Club thanks Olisa for his professionalism, dedication, and service, and wishes him every success moving forward.”
Ndah is now a free agent and can join another club even if the January transfer window closes before he secures a move.
