Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar has expressed his delight following his move from Real Sociedad to Valencia, Soccernet.ng reports.

After weeks of intense speculation, Sadiq finalized his transfer to Valencia on Thursday. The Nigerian international has been on Los Ches' radar since last summer; however, a deal failed to materialize at that time.

Nonetheless, the two clubs eventually found common ground in this January window to make the move happen.

While earlier reports suggested that Valencia were pursuing a loan deal with a mandatory purchase option, both parties ultimately settled on a permanent transfer.

Valencia paid Real Sociedad a €5 million fee for the 28-year-old’s services in a deal set to end at the end of the 2027/28 campaign.

Following the announcement, Sadiq admitted he was elated to join the club, noting that he did everything within his power to ensure the deal was successful.

“I’m very excited and happy. I’ve been waiting since last summer and, finally, I’m here,” Sadiq said.

“I’m the happiest guy in the world. I wanted to come back here; I’ve done everything possible. The club has also made the greatest possible effort. I’m very happy to return.

“Valencia CF is one of the biggest clubs in Spain, and you can feel it in the culture and the people: they never abandon the club.”

Sadiq Umar Second Coming To Valencia: Can He Deliver?

This is Sadiq Umar's second stint at Valencia. Last season, he spent the second half of the campaign with Los Ches, contributing six goals in 19 appearances.

The club wanted to get him permanently, but they were unable to meet Real Sociedad's valuation of the player.

But Sadiq has admitted that his first stint at the club was really good, and that was the major motivation behind his return.

“One of the things that made me come back is ambition. Last season I saw how the fans demanded results, and that brought out the best in me. Even though I came for half a season, I knew this was the best place to be and to show what I can do,” the Super Eagles star added

Sadiq joins Valencia with a burden of high expectations, given how his first stint went. The fans will be expecting goals from him regularly due to their current situation.

Los Ches currently sit 18th on the Laliga table, with 16 points from 18 games. They are in serious danger of dropping to the Laliga 2.

Sadiq, who has a very good relationship with Valencia coach Carlos Corberan, will be hoping to start on a strong note and help his side preserve their place in the top flight.
