Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has received a significant squad boost, as young midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro returned to action for Pisa on Monday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Akinsanmiro had spent the last month on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury sustained during a Serie B game between Pisa and Cremonese on November 7.
He was initially expected to return to action earlier, but as of Friday, Soccernet.ng had reported that he was still unfit and had to undergo a late check to ascertain if he was okay to face Parma.

Eventually, he made the matchday squad. Although he did not start for Pisa, he was introduced into the game at halftime.
Akinsanmiro had an instant impact, immediately making his presence felt. In the first half, possession was equally shared between both teams.
However, after Akinsanmiro entered the fixture, Pisa started to dominate, registering 70 percent of the ball in the second half.

The 21-year-old midfielder registered four key passes and maintained an impressive 96 percent pass accuracy across 28 passes. Akinsanmiro also contributed with two successful dribbles and one tackle.
Unfortunately for him, his profligate Pisa side fell to a 1-0 defeat after 90 minutes. Despite the loss, the Nigerian midfielder was the highest-rated player on the pitch, with an 8.1 rating according to Sofascore.
Super Eagles: Why Ebenezer Akinsanmiro Akinsanmiro's Return is Crucial for Eric Chelle
Ebenezer Akinsanmiro's return is a significant boost for the Super Eagles ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 21-year-old is performing at a very good level, and since Eric Chelle does not have too many established midfield options, Akinsanmiro is certainly a player who deserves a chance.
He is no stranger to football on the continent either. He played in the Nigerian league before securing his move to Europe, meaning there won't be any talk of him needing to adjust to the African football environment.

He has already made the 55-man provisional list, and there are already reports suggesting he will make the final squad.
Having a player with his current form and continental experience on the team will definitely be beneficial for coach Chelle.
