Nigeria have taken another firm step into the inner circle of world football leadership, with four of its top administrators appointed to key FIFA standing committees, Soccernet.ng reports.

Leading the list is Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, who joins the FIFA Men’s Club Competitions Committee.

The FIFA Men’s Club Competitions Committee is the body responsible for shaping the structure and governance of global club tournaments, including the revamped FIFA Club World Cup.

Gusau, who became NFF President in October 2022 after succeeding Amaju Pinnick, brings years of grassroots and continental experience, having served as Zamfara FA Chairman and a CAF committee member. His appointment reveals his growing influence in international football policymaking.

Nigerians in FIFA: Falode, Pinnick join Gusau

Joining Gusau are three other prominent Nigerians: Aisha Falode, who takes up a seat on the FIFA Media and Communications Committee; Abdulhakeem Mustapha (SAN), appointed to the Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee; and Amaju Pinnick, reappointed as Deputy Chair of the FIFA Men’s National Teams Competitions Committee.

Pinnick, who continues his tenure on one of FIFA’s most powerful bodies, praised the new appointees for representing “a new era of professionalism, integrity, and innovation for Nigerian football.”

“I wholeheartedly congratulate President Gusau, Abdulhakeem Mustapha, SAN, and Aisha Falode on their well-deserved appointments,” Pinnick said. “Together, we reflect Nigeria’s intellectual capital and strategic relevance within global football.”

He reserved special praise for Falode, calling her “a trailblazer whose journey from journalist to international football executive continues to inspire women across Africa.”

Falode’s inclusion births another breakthrough for women in the game. The former Chairperson of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) and a veteran broadcaster, she was the first female member of CAF’s Media and Communications Committee. Now, Falode joins FIFA’s equivalent, extending her pioneering footprint.
