Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare is expected to start for Wolves when they lock horns with Newcastle United at St. James' Park on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.

After a long summer of speculations around his future, Arokodare joined Wolves on transfer deadline day, in a deal worth €26 million.

The Super Eagles star was brought in to create competition for first-choice striker Jorgen Strand Larsen and give them an extra option. So, it was expected that Arokodare would have to bid his time before getting minutes

However, things might move really fast for the 24-year-old striker in the coming weeks. This is as Wolves coach Vitor Pereira has confirmed that Strand Larsen will be sidelined due to an injury.

During his post match interview on Friday, he stressed that Strand Larsen's “injury was a bit serious.” This might mean a few weeks on the sidelines for the 25-year-old Norwegian.

A Chance For Tolu Arokodare To Profit

With Jorgen Strand Larsen out of the way, Arokodare can fancy getting himself a starting shirt soon. It is even likely to come this weekend at St. James Park, where Wolves take on Newcastle United.

It promises to be a tough game due to the disparity in quality of both teams. Newcastle have established themselves as Champions League contenders over the the last three seasons, and they are hungry to get their first win of the season.

They will be smacking their lips at the prospect of facing a Wolves side that have lost their first three games of the Premier League campaign.

Moreover, Wolves have not beaten Eddie Howe's team since 2021. So Arokodare will surely have his work cut out for him.

In fact, one could call it a baptism of fire for the former Genk man. Nonetheless, the Super Eagles star will be hoping to come out unscathed and possibly get amongst the goals.
