Samuel Chukwueze joins Fulham from AC Milan on transfer deadline day

Super Eagles and AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze has sealed a deadline day loan move to Fulham, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 26-year-old moved to San Siro from Villarreal two years ago on a five-year deal for €21m, but was largely a squad player in Milan, and struggled to win over the fans at the club.

In 70 games for AC Milan, Chukwueze scored eight goals and provided seven assists, which is a poor return, given the amount the seven-time UEFA Champions League winners spent to secure the services of the fleet-footed right winger in the summer of 2023.

After being a bit-part player for over two years, Chukwueze has decided to move away from Italy in a bid to get more playing time, considering the AFCON 2025 and the 2026 FIFA World Cup are on the horizon.

Chukwueze joins Fulham on a season-long loan

As per Fabrizio Romano, the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner has joined Marco Silva's Fulham on a year loan, and is set to team up with Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey.

While the agreed deal for the loan spell includes a buy option that could see the total package of the Nigerian go up to €25m. However, it is not a mandatory clause, but only an option for Fulham to consider if they're impressed with Chukwueze's performances in his time at Craven Cottage.

Surprisingly, Chukwueze is Fulham's second signing of this summer as Marco Silva's side have been inactive in the transfer market.

The Cottagers have been tipped to falter in the English Premier League by Micah Richards and Alan Shearer.

Fulham are without a win in the English top-flight this season. They've played draws against Brighton and Hove Albion, and Manchester United before their recent loss to Chelsea.
