“The Euro is more valuable than the Naira” – World Cup record holder digs at Victor Osimhen for missing South Africa clash

“The Euro is more valuable than the Naira” – World Cup record holder digs at Victor Osimhen for missing South Africa clash

The Super Eagles had to manage without superstar striker Victor Osimhen in South Africa….

Former Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has insinuated that Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen feigned an injury to avoid playing against South Africa, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen was forced off in Nigeria's 1-0 victory of Rwanda last week after being on the receiving end of a terrible tackle.

At first it looked like a small issue. But pictures after the game showed that the Rwandan player actually caught Osimhen's ankle.

This is mal!cious now. Haaaa.

Nonetheless, in Osimhen's absence, the Super Eagles grinded out the win. But before their second game against South Africa on Tuesday, it was confirmed that Osimhen had a bruised ankle and had returned to Galatasaray to undergo some medical checks.

Unfortunately for the Super Eagles, they only managed a draw against the Bafana Bafana instead of the much-needed victory, which would have kept their hopes of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup alive.

Legendary Ghana strike Asamoah Gyan spoke about Osimhen's injury in a recent interview, and he stated that Osimhen's injury wasn't really as serious as he made it look.

“I know these tricks. Someone said to Osimhen, ‘Look, we spent a lot of money on you” Gyan said, per Haber Sarikirmizi.

“The Champions League is coming up. We don't like you going to Africa, but go there and play a bit, then get injured and lie on the ground and act like it's serious. The next day you'll be in Türkiye.

“You will see Osimhen running with vigor in the Super League and Champions League. No matter how many times he gets kicked there, he will not lie down. Doctors are also involved. The Euro is a more valuable currency than the Naira.”

Asamoah Gyan is one of the greatest-ever strikers to come out of Africa. He is currently Ghana's highest goalscorer at the FIFA World Cup.

Will Victor Osimhen Play This Weekend?

With club football set to return this weekend, Galatasaray have a Turkish Super Lig game at Eyupspor on Saturday. And it is yet to be confirmed if Victor Osimhen will play that game.

The Cimbom begin the UEFA Champions League campaign next Thursday with a game against Eintracht Frankfurt too, and Osimhen would be hungry to play that game.

In the coming days, the extent of Osimhen's injury should be confirmed.
