Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho scored a goal, but it was ruled out by VAR, as Celtic settled for a goalless draw against Hibernian at Celtic Park, Soccernet.ng reports.
Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers gave Iheanacho his first Scottish Premier Leage start when they welcomed Hibernian on Saturday afternoon.
Recall that the Super Eagles striker had contributed two goals and one assist in his previous three games for Celtic. So he was expected to get amongst the goals once more. However, things did not pan out as he would have hoped.
Celtic dominated the game from the start, with Iheanacho looking sharp in front of goal. He got very close in the 21st minute, when his strike from inside the box hit the upright.
About 20 minutes later, he forced Hibernian goalkeeper Martin Boyle to a save, off a strike from inside the box.
Celtic dominated the first half, but they were wasteful in front of the goal and goal and had to settle for a stalemate going into the break.
The Hoops started the second half strongly, and after multiple goal attempts, they thought they had scored in the 67th minute, after Iheanacho put the ball in the net. But the goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR review.

A minute after his goal was ruled out, Iheanacho was replaced by Benjamim Nygren. But the Swedish forward could not help their cause much, as the game ended in a goalless draw.
Kelechi Iheanacho Denied Triple Joy
Since joining Celtic at the turn of the month, Kelechi Iheanacho has contributed two goals and one assist in three appearances.
If he has scored against Hibernian, it would have been his third goal for the Hoops. It would have also continued his three-game run of goal contributions for the club.
Nonetheless, the Super Eagles star will look to get amongst the goals again when Celtic return to Europa League action against Braga in midweek.
