Former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye has urged Nigerian footballers to start planning for life after football right from the onset of their careers, Soccernet.ng reports.
This includes Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Victor Boniface, and a host of others who are currently in their prime.
The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner, who enjoyed a successful stint in Europe with West Bromwich Albion, Olympiacos, and Dynamo Kyiv, warned that many players struggle financially after retirement because they fail to prepare early.

“Footballers, start saving for your future from day one. No matter how small your salary is, put something aside for your retirement,” Ideye wrote in a message shared on his social media page.
“And pray for God to bring the right people around you. Most importantly, pray for the right partner who will always be there for you even after your career. God bless you all,” he added.
Ideye’s words come at a time when Nigerian football legends are sharply criticizing the Nigeria Football Federation and the Federal Government for neglecting former players—particularly following the recent death of former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peter Rufai, who passed away after a brief illness.
