The Super Eagles of Nigeria advanced to the AFCON 2023 final in Ivory Coast under the tutelage of Portuguese gaffer Jose Peseiro…

Former Watford centre-back William Troost-Ekong has remained astute of his plans for the Nigerian national team before he bows out, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 31-year-old made his Super Eagles debut in 2015 under Stephen Keshi and has gone on to represent Nigeria at two AFCON tournaments, alongside the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Nigeria missed out on an opportunity to feature in the 2022 edition of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar after losing the qualifying play-off game to their rivals, Ghana.

Ekong also captained the Super Eagles to a place in the AFCON 2023 final before they lost to the host nation, Ivory Coast.

The former PAOK man was the tournament's best player, but he's now recalibrated his vision as he nears the end of his career.

While the Super Eagles need to up their game en route to a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Ekong is keen on making his dream happen

“I still want to win an AFCON. I want to play another World Cup. I’m not done yet,” the ex-Watford defender said in quotes revealed by Brila.
