Super Falcons and Galatasaray defender Oluwatosin Demehin has revealed her aim going into the new season with her club after helping Nigeria to the WAFCON 2024 triumph, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 23-year-old played all six games for Justin Madugu‘s side in Morocco, forming an integral partnership with Osinachi Ohale in defence.
Although many were surprised the ex-Reims defender wasn't a part of the tournament's best eleven, Demehin was just glad to have won her first trophy with the Nigerian National Anthem.
“It’s such a great feeling. Your first tournament, your first appearance, and you come out as a gold medalist,” Demehin said in an interview with Premium Times.
“I’m thankful to God, to the team, and to the unity within the team. That’s what carried us,” she continued.
Demehin‘s plans after WAFCON 2024 victory
After representing the Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, the 2024 Paris Olympics and the WAFCON 2024 tournament in Morocco, the centre-back is keen to replicate her national success at club level.
“There’s still a lot to achieve. I just want to keep improving.”
Like Demehin, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen also plays for the Galatasaray men's team, but the Super Falcons defender revealed they barely see because of their very hectic schedules.
“We’ve only seen each other twice, but the love is massive. Anywhere there's a Nigerian, there’s always love,” the WAFCON gold medallist concluded.
