Serie A club Lazio have told Newcastle United and other admirers to forget about signing Nigeria international Fisayo Dele-Bashiru this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Manchester City youth product have piqued the interest of top European clubs following his impressive pre-season form.

According to Il Messaggero, Maurizio Sarri has been increasingly impressed with the 24-year-old, particularly after his standout display against Burnley in pre-season.

Serie A: Dele-Bashiru Impresses Lazio Boss

The Super Eagles star showcased his all-round quality in the build-up to Matteo Cancellieri’s winner, where he won possession and threaded a sublime through ball to Pedro, who set up the decisive goal.

Sarri now appears ready to hand Dele-Bashiru a starting role in Lazio’s Serie A opener against Como, where he is expected to join Nicolò Rovella and Matteo Guendouzi in a three-man midfield.

The Super Eagles midfielder has impressed since completing a permanent switch from Hatayspor earlier this summer, with Lazio paying a combined €5.43 million to secure his services until 2028.

Newcastle To Battle Juventus And AC Milan

Before Damien Comolli and Igli Tare joined the club’s technical structure, Serie A giants Juventus and AC Milan had also enquired about the Nigerian international.
