Former Zimbabwe international striker Tendai Ndoro has been found dead at his home in Johannesburg, Soccernet.ng reports.

Per Sun News, the cause of his death is still unknown, but the 40-year-old has previously faced health issues.

Orlando Pirates—where Ndoro scored 25 goals in 45 appearances—confirmed his passing in a heartfelt statement, expressing deep sorrow at the loss.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former striker, Tendai Ndoro (2015–2017). The club extend heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.”

The passing of Ndoro—who is known for his explosive displays in the South African Premier Soccer League—has shocked the football world.

Ndoro’s career is also remembered for his links with Nigerian footballers who shared the dressing room with him and also faced him as opponents.

During his time at Orlando Pirates (2015–2017), Ndoro lined up alongside Nigerian centre-back James Okwuosa, who starred at the Buccaneers’ backline.

The two were part of a squad competing in one of Africa’s most competitive leagues.

Ndoro also briefly shared the dressing room with Nigerian goalkeeper and former Super Eagles prospect, Emmanuel Daniel, who joined Pirates around the same period.

Though Daniel’s game time was limited, he and Ndoro trained and competed together within the squad.

Ndoro frequently came up against Nigerians across the PSL. Players such as Onyekachi Okonkwo—during his time at Mpumalanga Black Aces—and other Nigerian exports active in the league during his spell provided him with stiff competition.
