Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is closing in on a transfer to the Turkish Super Lig giants Besiktas
Former Spanish LaLiga champions Valencia have seen their attempt to hijack Wilfred Ndidi's transfer to Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas rebuffed, Soccernet.ng reports.
Ndidi has been linked to many clubs this summer following Leicester City's relegation. This is due to the condition in his contract which activated a €9 million release clause for him once Leicester City got relegated.
Super Lig club Besiktas are the first club to show serious interest in acquiring his services, as they sent in a €7 million bid which was first rejected, before they sent in a €9 million bid which Leicester City accepted on Monday.
Besiktas are now negotiating personal terms with Ndidi as they look to wrap up the transfer soon.
Meanwhile, other clubs have been trying to hijack the transfer. Soccernet.ng reported earlier that Real Betis are trying to delay the transfer.
Now, in a new development, per transfer expert Ben Jacobs, former LaLiga champions Valencia sent in a bid to Leicester. But the Foxes rejected it.
Will Wilfred Ndidi join Besiktas?
Before Wilfred Ndidi joins Besiktas, they would need to agree on personal terms. The most important thing is the wages.
Ndidi is currently the longest-serving player at Leicester City since Jamie Vardy left at rhe end of last season. He is one of the highest-paid players on the team, as he earns around €86,000 gross with the Foxes.
Besiktas can pay him significantly higher than this due to the lower tax rate in Turkey. Moreover, one of their new signings Tammy Abraham earns around €115,000 per week.
Once this is sorted, Ndidi should be willing to make the move. However, if Besiktas do not move quickly, another club could swoop in for him.
