Christantus Uche could be set for his final appearance in Getafe colours as he edges closer to a move to the Premier League, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 22-year-old Nigerian midfielder, who has attracted significant interest across Europe, is the subject of an official €20 million bid from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Despite negotiations with Wolves progressing quickly, Uche insisted on travelling with Getafe’s squad for their La Liga clash with Sevilla.

Spanish outlet AS reported that he personally requested inclusion in the matchday group, keen to share the pitch one last time with his teammates and potentially face compatriots Kelechi Iheanacho, Chidera Ejuke and Akor Adams, all now on Sevilla’s books.

It is unlikely he will see much action at the Sánchez Pizjuán, with Getafe wary of risking injury to their most valuable asset before his transfer is finalised.

Yet Uche’s determination to wear the shirt one final time shows the affection he holds for the club that signed him for just €500,000, a deal now set to deliver a windfall return.

Getafe’s financial difficulties have added urgency to the situation. The Madrid-based side are struggling to register a number of their summer signings due to La Liga’s salary restrictions, and offloading Uche would ease the burden. Only three of their nine new recruits have been officially registered.

Wolves are not alone in the chase.

Everton, Brentford, and Leeds United have all expressed strong interest, while Real Sociedad tracked his progress last season.

Everton were once considered favourites, even exploring a deal worth up to €30 million, but Wolves’ decisive move has now put them in pole position.

Uche’s release clause is set at €25 million, meaning Wolves’ current offer falls short.

However, with time running out before the transfer deadline, compromise appears inevitable. Getafe president Ángel Torres has already admitted that sales may be necessary to balance the books, even if he would prefer to keep the Nigerian.

The midfielder enjoyed a breakout season in Spain last term, registering four goals and six assists in 33 La Liga appearances.

Last week at Celta Vigo, Uche conjured up a man-of-the match display as he notched a goal and an assist to power Getafe to an unexpected 2-0 win on the first day of the new campaign.

Should Uche complete he transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers, he will become the seventh Nigerian to play for the Premier League club.

George Ndah, Ade Akinbiyi, Isaac Okoronkwo, Carl Ikeme, Seyi Olofinjana, and Bright Enobakhare are the other Nigerians to have featured for the Wolves.
