The Super Eagles Team B (CHAN Eagles) have been knocked out of the 2024 African Nations Championship following a 4-0 loss to Sudan in their second game of the tournament, Soccernet.ng reports.

After a heart-breaking 1-0 loss to Senegal in their first game of the CHAN tournament, Eric Chelle and his Super Eagles B lads returned to action for their second game against Sudan at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar on Tuesday.

Following the result from the opening game of the tournament, coach Eric Chelle made two changes to his lineup, with Hadi Haruna and Taofeek Otaniyi replacing Jabbar Malik and Qudus Akanni in a 4-4-2 setup.

The team started out of sorts after the blast of the whistle. They were obviously shaken by the loss to Senegal, and they tried to rush a goal. That was their undoing, as Sudan were dogged and did a good job of keeping them at bay.

The Super Eagles thought they had scored they had scored opener in the 22nd minute after Anthony Ijoma scored off a quick counter. Unfortunately for them, the goal was ruledout for offside after a VAR review.

Just seconds after that, Sudan scored. A cross was played into Nigeria's area, and a Sudanese head met it, but Mustapha Lawal saved. However, Leonard Ngenge got to the ball and inadvertently headed it back into his goal to make it 1-0 after 25 minutes.

But despite going a goal down, Nigeria still failed to break down Sudan's backline and create clear-cut chances.

Then, just before the break, Ngenge caused another goal. The Nigerian defender fumbled an attempt to head a cross clear, and the ball touched his hand.

The referee did not even need assistance from the VAR, as he whistled for a penalty immediately. Walieldin Khidir took charge of the responsibility and converted from the spot to make it 2-0 after 45 minutes.

Chelle replaced Ngenge, Haruna, and Otaniyi with Malik, Stephen Manyo, and Vincent Temitope at halftime in a bid to salvage a result. But the substitutions did not have the desired effect.

Sudan hit Nigeria twice in the 55th and 62nd minute, courtesy of Omer Abdelrazig, to make it 4-0.

Nigeria huffed and puffed, but they failed to score in the closing embers of the game. It eventually ended 4-0 to Sudan.

Nigeria get knocked out of CHAN after Sudan result

Following Nigeria's 4-0 loss to Sudan, they have now been knocked out of the CHAN tournament. Eric Chelle's team have suffered back-to-back losses, which leaves them with zero points.

They now have one game left. But the top two teams on the group, Senegal and Sudan, have four points already.

So, no matter the number of goals that Nigeria score in their final game against Congo, there is no way that they will reach four points. That game is practically a dead rubber.
