Super Falcons head coach apologizes for Algeria performance, warns Zambia

Super Falcons head coach, Justin Madugu.

Super Falcons head coach, Justin Madugu, has issued an apology for Nigeria's profligacy in front of goal against Algeria, promising they'll make up in the WAFCON quarter-final against Zambia, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 61-year-old opted to rotate his starting eleven as his side had already secured a quarter-final spot after winning their first two games in Group B.

The outcome of the decision saw the Super Falcons muster 24 shots on goal against the Algerians, with just two hitting the target.

Many criticised the players' attitude to the game, and rightly so, but their head coach came out to apologise, maintaining that such a mishap wouldn't be repeated.

“We want to apologise to our dear countrymen and women for not winning the game, because I know the expectation is that we must always win

“We did the best that we could to try to win, but it didn't turn out the way the fans expected. We apologise for that, and we'll work harder to make them happy in the next game we have to play,” Coach Madugu said in an interview with Osasuo Obayiuwana.

The Copper Queens boast of two prolific attackers in Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundananji, but the Super Falcons gaffer remains unfazed.

“We have our strategies, we have watched them severally, and we know what they can do. We'll work on how to neutralise their strength, so we're not too bothered by the individual players.

“We know how good they are, but we're not bothered. We are getting ready for each game, and we'll have an antidote on the matchday,” Madugu concluded.
