Inter Milan have confirmed the departure of Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, who has joined newly-promoted Serie A side Pisa SC on a season-long loan.

The deal includes a purchase option for Pisa and a buyback clause for Inter, as the Nerazzurri continue to show faith in the 20-year-old’s potential.

Akinsanmiro, who made his name at Beyond Limits Football Academy in Ikenne-Remo, moved to Inter Milan in 2023 after turning heads across Europe. The Italian giants reportedly beat off interest from Real Madrid and Benfica to secure his signature.

After initially being integrated into Inter’s Primavera (U-19) setup, the midfielder spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Sampdoria, where he gained valuable experience in Serie B, featuring regularly for the Blucerchiati.

With Pisa earning promotion to Serie A last season, they have acted quickly to bolster their midfield options. Akinsanmiro’s arrival signals the club’s ambition to compete in the top tier, and the Nigerian is expected to play a key role.

Pisa will be pleased to acquire the young midfielder, who this year attracted praise from Juventus and AC Milan legend Pirlo.

His move to Pisa makes him the third Nigerian in the club’s history. He follows the footsteps of Ikechukwu Kalu and Kenneth Obodo, the brother of former Super Eagles midfielder Christian Obodo.

Kalu made five Serie A appearances and scored twice in 26 games overall for Pisa while Obodo made 64 appearances for the club in the lower divisions during his three-year stay at the club.

Akinsanmiro now joins an exclusive group, hoping to leave a bigger imprint in Pisa colours and add to Nigeria’s growing influence in European football.
