Victor Osimhen’s name has consistently grabbed headlines in recent months, having been linked with many European clubs vying for his signature, Soccernet.ng reports.

Clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, Juventus, Chelsea, Arsenal, and now Al Hilal are among his potential suitors ready to bolster their roster with his signature.

According to top transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Al Hilal have booked a medical for Osimhen ahead of a proposed big-money move. The post had led to claims that the deal was practically done. But is it?

Osimhen to Al Hilal: The Real Situation

Contrary to Fabrizio Romano’s report, multiple Nigerian journalists with close sources confirm that Osimhen is currently in Nigeria, enjoying his holiday.

Soccernet.ng understands that the Super Eagles striker has not made a final decision on his next club, nor has he agreed to any medical with Al Hilal.

Sources within Nigeria suggest that while offers from Saudi Arabia remain on the table, Osimhen is in no rush to commit. The player is believed to be weighing his options carefully, especially with potential interest from top European clubs still lingering.

How Has Nigerians React: Divided Opinions

Reactions among Nigerian football fans and journalists have been mixed. Some are excited about the potential figure Osimhen would bag from his move to Al Hilal, while others are skeptical—and even critical — of the story’s authenticity.

Many believe this may be another case of transfer hype aimed at driving online engagement. Meanwhile, a few have pointed fingers at Fabrizio Romano on using Osimhen’s name to rack up views and boost numbers during this transfer season.

One notable voice is former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye. In a post on his X (formerly Twitter), the former West Bromwich Albion forward finds it hard to believe top European clubs cannot afford to pay Osimhen his desired salary while they can do the same for those who cannot deliver a similar performance as he has done.

“I don’t believe the top 5 clubs in Europe can’t pay 350 or 400k a week for a player like him. When players that are not on his level earn the same amount.”

Ideye believes Osimhen still belongs at the highest level of European football and deserves a package that mirrors his status as one of the best strikers in Europe.

True or False: Have Nigerians Embraced the Rumour?

False — at least, not blindly. While some have welcomed the idea, perhaps from a financial standpoint, most Nigerians remain cautious and unconvinced. Many insiders are demanding more reliable updates and calling out those spreading unverified claims.

In truth, Nigerians want their star man to move based on career growth, not just cash.
