Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel will officially become a free agent at the end of June, and he has been linked with multiple clubs in recent months, Soccernet.ng reports.

Over the last few months, Fenerbahce have been trying to convince the 27-year-old defender, who turns 28 in December to sign a new contract. However, he has remained adamant.

Osayi-Samuel has been linked to clubs like Crystal Palace and Besiktas in recent weeks. But those talks are yet to yield results.

In the last Soccernet.ng update on the Super Eagles star, he had started talks with Besiktas, but the negotiations fell through, as they were unwilling to meet his demands.

But in a new development, per Transfer Feed, Osayi-Samuel might make a surprise move to the English Championship. This is as newly-promoted Birmingham have contacted him over a possible transfer this summer.

The Blues finished top of League One last season, and they are looking at gaining promotion to the Premier League in their first season.

It will be shocking move due to the finances involved. Moreso, for a player who was playing first-tier and continental football, it would be a step down for Osayi-Samuel.

If the transfer goes through, Osayi-Samuel will be the fifth Nigerian player to sign for Birmingham City.

Birmingham City have had their fair share of Nigerian players. The biggest Nigerian player to don their colors is retired Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins. He featured for them between January to May 2011.

Other Nigerian players who have featured for them are Viv Solomon-Otabor, Sone Aluko, and Dele Adebola.
