The 2024/2025 football league season in the major European leagues has ended after an intense eleven months of football.

Many Nigerian players played important roles for their clubs in the just-concluded campaign. While some performed to or above expectations, others flattered to deceive. Players like Samuel Chukwueze, Wilfred Ndidi, and Kelechi Iheanacho fumbled.

Meanwhile, other Super Eagles stars ended the season with trophies. For example, Victor Osimhen won the domestic double in Turkey, while Bruno Onyemaechi won the Greek Cup with Olympiacos after joining them at the turn of the year.

Then, stars like Wilfred Ndidi, Paul Onuachu, Tyrone Ebuehi, Jamilu Collins, and a few others got relegated with their clubs.

In this piece, Soccernet.ng forms a starting eleven of Super Eagles players in Europe based on their performances in the 2024/25 season.

Super Eagles midfielder Maduka Okoye had a fine campaign with Udinese in the just-concluded Serie A season, helping them to a 12th-place finish.

The Super Eagles star featured in 25 games last season and although he kept four clean sheets, he averaged 2.9 saves per game. His performances for Udinese even got him back into the Super Eagles team. Considering the league he's playing in, Okoye was undoubtedly the best Super Eagles goalkeeper in Europe.

Defenders

Ola Aina

Ola Aina was a revelation for Nottingham Forest in the run-up to their 7th-place finish in the English Premier League last season.

The Super Eagles star featured in 35 Premier League games, with two goals and one assist to his name.

Aina proved to be solid at the back, and always supported his side in attack. After from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Aina was probably the second-best right back in England.

Calvin Bassey

Calvin Bassey had a season to remember at Fulham. The Super Eagles star has bounced back from being chastised at Ajax two years ago to making his name as one of the best center-backs in England.

Bassey played in 35 games, and showed how good he is. He used his body well, often bullying opposition players, and held his own against some of the big boys. No surprise he won the Player of the Season Award at Fulham.

Igoh Ogbu

His performances at club level even earned him a Super Eagles call-up during the just-concluded campaign.

Felix Agu

Felix Agu had a decent season with Werder Bremen in the German Bundesliga. He scored three goals to help them finish eighth in the league.

The Super Eagles star started 21 games for Werder Bremen. He did well defensively and was great in attack.

If not for his injury struggles, Agu would have gotten more minutes. But it was still a very good campaign for him.

Midfielders

Alex Iwobi

Alex Iwobi had a season to remember, as he recorded his highest number of goal contributions. Iwobi played all 38 Premier League games for Fulham and contributed nine goals and six assists.

Iwobi improved significantly last season, as he was daring and took more shots than usual. He was one of the best players for the club last season.

Christantus Uche

The Super Eagles star butted in with four goals and six assists in 33 games for Azulones. He had a significant presence in the middle of the park and was a committed runner.

For a player who experienced top-flight foot all for the first time last season, Uche definitely impressed.
