Everton have entered the race to sign Nigeria international Christantus Uche, joining a growing list of top European clubs vying for the Getafe star’s signature this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has emerged as one of La Liga’s brightest revelations following a stellar debut season with Getafe.

Uche played 38 matches under manager José Bordalás, scoring four goals and delivering seven assists. His energetic performances and tactical maturity have not gone unnoticed.

Uche’s release clause is set at €25 million, but Getafe are reportedly open to negotiations. Ceuta, his former club, retain a 20% sell-on clause in any future transfer, further incentivising a deal.

Getafe president Ángel Torres and incoming sporting director Toni Muñoz are expected to hold key talks over Uche’s future in the coming weeks.

The Nigerian’s value could yet rise following a strong debut for the Super Eagles during the recent international window. Introduced as a substitute, Uche held his nerve to score the winning penalty against Jamaica, handing Nigeria the 2025 Unity Cup.

Uche then earned a starting spot in the 1-1 draw with Russia in Moscow — displaying maturity and composure beyond his years.

With a healthy Nigerian contigent impressing in the Premier League, Uche may be keen to join them. However, the key to signing the youngster could be in offering regular game time and prioritising his development. Everton, rebuilding under a new structure, see Uche as a long-term solution in the midfield anchor role.

Despite finishing 13th in La Liga, Getafe are undergoing a period of transition, with several squad decisions pending. Uche is high on the list of players whose futures could shape the club’s summer strategy.

With interest from both sides of the Channel intensifying, the race for Christantus Uche’s signature is heating up — fast.
