Former Manchester United striker, Ruud van Nistelrooy, is expected to part ways with Leicester City after the club’s final game of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.
The subpar performance of the East Midlands side—securing just 25 points in 37 matches—has seen them relegated to the second division.
Many reports have revealed that the Leicester board is looking to appoint a manager with experience in the EFL Championship. This has cast uncertainty over Van Nistelrooy’s position at the club.
According to Sky Sports’ Rob Dorsett, Leicester have not yet settled on Van Nistelrooy’s successor, although Russell Martin is reportedly the leading candidate.
The Dutchman took over at Leicester following the dismal performance of the club under the guidance of Steve Cooper and has guided the team through a challenging campaign.
Should the club bring in either Martin or Röhl, they would become the new manager of Wilfred Ndidi, who is yet to resolve his future at the King Power Stadium.
There has been no official confirmation about Martin taking over, but the decision over who replaces Van Nistelrooy will be crucial as the Foxes prepare for life in the second tier.
