Flying Eagles captain has expressed his gratitude and shared insights following Nigeria’s 0-0 draw against Morocco at the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 19-year-old centre-back, Daniel Bameyi, was named Man of the Match after delivering a composed and disciplined performance that helped the Flying Eagles secure a second clean sheet in the tournament.

Speaking after the final whistle, Bameyi acknowledged the quality of the opposition and praised his teammates for their collective effort.

“It was a good one. Respect to the opponent team and my teammates. It was an intense game because we both knew what was at stake. We give God the glory for the outcome of the match,” Bameyi told reporters after the game against Morocco.

The Super Eagles B defender — who featured for Nigeria against Costa Rica in 2022 — also credited the coaching staff for the team’s tactical discipline on the night.

“Kudos to our coaches because they had the opportunity to see our opponents, and there were some tactical plays which we put into the field of play, and it was okay. We thank God for that,” he added.
