Super Eagles and Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers speaks to Soccernet.ng about the brilliant season he had with his club, alongside his Nigerian teammate Leon Balogun.
The 30-year-old scored 29 goals and provided seven assists in 55 games for the Gers across all competitions, earning him an invitation to Eric Chelle's squad for the 2025 Unity Cup.
Dessers led the Frontline for the Super Eagles against Ghana and repaid the manager's faith in him by breaking the deadlock as Nigeria claimed a berth in the final with a 2-1 win over Otto Addo's side.

“I think as much as it sometimes was painful at Rangers when you miss out on a big trophy, but I think overall, we stayed healthy we had some good moments and to be here at the end of the season is a very nice feeling. I think it’s one of the best feelings of the season,” the Belgium-born Nigerian told Soccernet.ng.
“Of course I speak with Leon Balogun a lot, even now, we still text. I think he also hoped to be here, we speak about it a lot and I think he’s a part of this team because the things he showed at our club this season were very good even at the highest level like the Europa League, but maybe in the future. I’m very happy for him, and happy for myself to be here now,” the SPFL Golden Boot winner concluded.
