“He has quality”- New Sevilla boss Joaquín Caparrós backs Super Eagles star to shine

New Sevilla coach Joaquin Caparros has backed Super Eagles forward Chidera Ejuke to become an important player for the club, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ejuke has had a topsy-turvy stay at Sevilla since he joined the club as a free agent last summer. The 27-year-old winger has contributed two goals and one assist in 22 appearances for Los Nervionenses. But it has been a bit stop-start for him.

Earlier this season, he suffered a hamstring injury, and that ruled him out Sevilla’s 11 games. By the time Ejuke returned to action, Sevilla had already bought Ruben Vargas, and the Swissman got the starting shirt.

For most of his time at Sevilla, Ejuke has struggled to make a mark. He has proven to be an adept dribbler, averaging two dribbles per game. But the issue has been his end product.

Nonetheless, Sevilla’s new coach, Joaquin who just took over after Garcia Pimienta was sacked last week, has expressed confidence in Ejuke.

“He (Ejuke) has quality. In the first half of the season, when he was here, he was a decisive player,” Caparros said, per futbolfantasy.

“I’ve seen him in games where he’s been decisive for our team. Therefore, he has to come back; he has the confidence of me and the entire coaching staff.”

Chidera Ejuke has to step up for Sevilla

Sevilla are currently lacking reliable players in the final third, and they need players to step up to the plate and deliver.

Dodi Lukebakio has been the club’s best attacking player this season with 11 goals and two assists in 32 appearances, but that is hardly enough.

Ejuke has a lot of talent, and he has to channel his prowess into numbers. His goals, assists, and key passes need to increase significantly. If not, he could razzle and dazzle his way out of Sevilla.
