Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche has been key in inspiring Getafe to match Paris Saint-Germain’s stunning away form in 2025, Soccernet.ng reports.

Spain's Getafe and French champions PSG lead Europe’s top five leagues with six away victories each this calendar year, as per Marca.

The 4-0 win at Real Valladolid on April 6 was Getafe’s sixth La Liga away win of the year – a remarkable record matched only by Luis Enrique’s PSG. No other team in the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, or Ligue 1 has managed that tally.

José Bordalás' side have been in sensational form on the road, with Uche at the heart of their success. The 21-year-old Owerri-born midfielder has featured in all six of Getafe’s away wins this year, delivering standout performances across the campaign.

Uche provided an assist in the opening 2-1 win over Las Palmas in January, and followed that up with a goal and an assist in the dominant 3-0 victory at Real Sociedad.

Although he only featured in the first half of the 1-0 win at Alavés, he returned strongly to open the scoring in the 2-1 triumph over Girona in February.

Despite a quiet showing in the narrow 1-0 defeat at Leganés, Uche bounced back with an assist in the 2-1 win over Osasuna, before producing his most influential display yet – two assists and involvement in a third goal – in the 4-0 rout of Real Valladolid.

In total, Getafe have played 10 away matches in all competitions in 2025, winning eight – including Copa del Rey ties – and losing just twice.

That 80% win rate ensures the club’s sharp focus on securing La Liga survival, a target they are edging closer to with every victory. Eleventh-place Getafe are currently 11 points above the relegation zone, with the club only nine points behind sixth-place Real Betis.

Their 4-0 win against Álvaro Rubio’s Real Valladolid was also historic. It marked the first time since 2009 that Getafe have scored four goals away from home – the last coming under former manager Míchel against Racing Santander.

Christantus Uche has made 28 La Liga appearances this season, scoring three goals and providing five assists. He started 25 of those games and last found the net against Girona on February 14. His La Liga debut came against Athletic Club in August 2024, when he scored at the age of 21 years and 88 days.

Next up for Getafe is a home clash with Las Palmas on April 12.
