Former Super Eagles defender Danny Shittu has urged Spanish-Nigerian striker Samu Omorodion to avoid rushing into a move away from Portuguese side FC Porto, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 20-year-old has piqued the interest of many European clubs vying for his signature, having quickly adjusted to life in Portugal with a scoring spree of 20 goals in 32 match appearances in the 2024-25 season campaign for Porto.

Following this, Chelsea, who were on the verge of securing a move for the player, have returned to the market with their interest in the former Atlético Madrid player. However, they face competition from their London rivals, Arsenal, who are also interested in signing the player.

Shittu, speaking to Africafoot, described the Super Eagles-eligible player as a powerful, fast, and clinical forward who could turn out to be a top player in the coming years.

“First of all, I think Samu is extremely talented and has huge potential to reach great heights in a few years. He is powerful, fast, and a good finisher,” Shittu said.

Shittu advised that the former Deportivo Alavés loanee should focus on steady growth rather than making a premature move.

“But I think he shouldn't rush into a big-stakes move because he still has a lot to learn, and FC Porto offers him that platform. He's in good hands. He should give himself a season or two in Portugal to continue to develop before leaving,” the former Nigeria international added.

Omorodion was undoubtedly a standout performer in La Liga this season, and his development has been closely monitored by scouts across Europe. However, Shittu believes that patience will be key in ensuring he reaches his full potential.

“If he continues in the same vein, with proper development and attitude, then in a season or two, top clubs will be lining up for his signature. He will have a good bargaining chip and Porto will gain more if they decide to sell him,” Shittu concluded.

Currently shining in Portugal, Omorodion is now worth 50 million euros and a little more time and growth can make a good business for Porto in the near future.
