Former Super Eagles striker Julius Aghahowa has shared his thoughts on Rwanda’s recent coaching change ahead of their 2026 World Cup qualification tie, Soccernet.ng reports.
Both the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Wasps of Rwanda have undergone a change in their coaching setup as they vie to secure valuable three points in their upcoming clash.
For Nigeria, Eric Chelle is now in charge of the squad, while for Amavubi, Adel Amrouche has been appointed as their new head coach, introducing an element of unpredictability into their setup.

Speaking to Brila Media, Aghahowa touched on both the potential advantages and disadvantages this could bring for Nigeria.

Aghahowa acknowledged the possible impact of this transition:
“Players want to prove themselves to the new coach, so it could be disadvantageous to us. It could also be advantageous to us; their coach might want to experiment,” Aghahowa stated.
The Super Eagles, who have had a poor start to their qualification campaign, cannot afford any slip-ups when they face Rwanda in Kigali before hosting Zimbabwe in Uyo.
Nigeria’s new head coach, Eric Chelle, has named a 39-man provisional squad for the crucial fixtures as he aims to get the Super Eagles’ campaign back on track.
