Super Eagles attacker, Ademola Lookman, delivered a stunning performance for Atalanta by netting a brace in their victory over Empoli, Soccernet.ng reports.
Following the match, the former Everton forward who was at the center of criticism by his coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, voiced his thoughts on turning his previous situation into success.
Earlier, the Nigeria international missed a penalty against Club Brugge while on a 5-2 aggregate, which to his manager, could have changed the course of the game.
“Ademola Lookman is one of the worst penalty takers I’ve ever seen. He wanted to take the penalty after scoring a goal. He took the ball despite Retegui and De Ketelaere being available…I didn’t like what Lookman did” he said.
The 27-year-old gave the Italian gaffer the perfect response when he notched two goals in the 5-1 victory on the road to Stadio Carlo Castellani.
With his brace against the Gli Azzurri, the Nigerian has scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 20 match appearances for Atalanta so far in the 2024-25 season campaign.
