Nigerian music superstar Davido has publicly declared Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as his greatest of all time (GOAT), Soccernet.ng reports.
With this endorsement, the four-time Grammy nominee seemingly snubbed other top Super Eagles stars like Ademola Lookman and Victor Boniface.
The former LOSC Lille forward, Osimhen, who has 35 caps for Nigeria, has been one of the country’s most outstanding footballers in recent years.
In a recent social media post, Davido reshared a picture of Osimhen, simply captioning it “My GOAT”, following Galatasaray’s 1-0 victory against Gaziantep, which helped the Turkish giants maintain their lead at the top of the table.
Although Osimhen did not score in the match, he was a constant threat to the opposition’s defence, making a significant impact on the game.
Davido’s endorsement comes despite the impressive form of Lookman, who led Atalanta to the Europa League title, and Boniface, who played a pivotal role in Bayer Leverkusen’s historic Bundesliga triumph.
The close bond between Davido and Osimhen could be a major factor in this public show of admiration.
The Napoli-owned star recently attended Davido’s wedding reception with Chioma, and the two have been seen together at various events, strengthening their relationship.
