Spanish La Liga club Sevilla are close to sealing a transfer for Super Eagles hopeful Akor Adams from Ligue 1 side Montpellier, Soccernet.ng reports.

Sevilla have been signing more Nigerian players recently, as they signed Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidera Ejuke in free transfers last summer. Although both players have struggled to make a big mark at Sevilla, the club seem to have fallen in love with players from Nigeria.

Recall that Soccernet has previously reported that Los Nervionenses want to add some attacking talents to their team. Now, reports from Spain indicate they are close to completing a transfer for another striker.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Sevilla have agreed on a 5.5 million Euros fee with Montpellier for the signing of Nigerian striker Adams.

The Kogi-born striker joined Montpellier from Norwegian giants Lillestrom in 2023, and he has been decent so far. Adams has contributed 13 goals and five assists in 49 appearances since he moved to France, and he has even been linked with a transfer to AC Milan previously.

However, Sevilla looks like his next destination at the moment. In fact, the deal is set to be sealed in the next few days.

This will make Adams the third Nigerian player in Sevilla colours. However, it could mean an exit for another Super Eagles star.

What does Akor Adams signing mean for Kelechi Iheanacho?

Sevilla are yet to say anything concerning Kelechi Iheanacho, but Adams' signing could signal an exit for the former Leicester City man. Iheanacho has failed to score in a La Liga game after nine appearances, albeit most of them have been off the bench.

Reports have already been that the former Europa League champions are looking to ship off the Super Eagles star to raise money and create space to bring in another player.

Iheanacho has been heavily linked with a transfer to Olympiakos, Panathinaikos, Leeds United, and Ipswich Town, but nothing concrete has happened yet. Nonetheless, as it stands, Iheanacho is very likely to leave as Adams' signing will make it three senior strikers for Sevilla, and that is a bit too much for a mid-table La Liga club.
