Former Remo Stars midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro faces the prospect of working under a third manager as Sampdoria part ways with Reggio Emilia, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian midfielder joined the Serie B side on a season-long loan from Inter Milan during the 2024 summer transfer window, when Andrea Pirlo was still in charge.
However, after a poor start to the season — losing twice and drawing once in their opening three matches, which left them in 19th place — Pirlo was shown the exit door.
Emilia, who succeeded the former Juventus midfielder, has also struggled to turn the team’s fortunes around. Sampdoria have not secured a victory since their clash against Mantova in October.
With the club now languishing in 15th place, the management’s growing impatience culminated in Emilia’s dismissal.
Akinsanmiro, who has scored once in 16 domestic league appearances for Sampdoria, now hopes for stability under a third coach. Interestingly, reports suggest that Andrea Pirlo is being considered for a return to the team.
However, Pirlo’s potential comeback hinges on resolving lingering issues with Sampdoria’s Sporting Director Pietro Accardi, which must be addressed before any reappointment can be finalised.
The names currently being discussed as potential replacements for Reggio Emilia are largely those proposed by Sampdoria’s Sporting Director, Accardi, to club executives Manfredi and Messina.
Aurelio Andreazzoli is gaining significant attention, largely due to his prior working relationship with Accardi and his salary demands, which are considered manageable by the club.
