Super Eagles forward Umar Sadiq has further fueled rumours linking him with a move away from Real Sociedad with his latest comments, Soccernet.ng reports.
Sadiq has been struggling for playing time at La Real this season, managing only 224 minutes on the pitch spread across seven La Liga games. He only started two of those matches, though, and has contributed zero goals and one assist.
With Sadiq netting only four La Liga goals for Real Sociedad since joining from Almeria in 2022 for €20 million, the club could be willing to sanction a transfer in the January transfer window.
The Nigerian international could be open to such a move as he refused to brush away rumours linking him with a winter transfer.
Asked by Tribal Football if a transfer to Getafe was on the cards in the coming weeks, Sadiq replied:
“I don’t know. Let’s see what will happen in the future.”
Before arriving at Real Sociedad, Sadiq spent two seasons at Almeria, where he scored 38 goals in the Segunda Division to help the club gain promotion to the top flight.
Still a hero to Almeria fans, Sadiq admits the club remains a possible destination in the future.
“With Almeria, it’s always a pleasure,” Sadiq said.” We never know what the future comes with.”
Sadiq is Nigeria’s all-time second-highest goalscorer in the history of the Segunda Division behind only Ikechukwu Uche who netted 79 goals.
Aside from Almeria and Real Sociedad, Sadiq has also featured for AS Roma, Torino, Bologna, Glasgow Rangers, and Serbia’s Partizan among others.
