Super Eagles and Fulham defender, Calvin Bassey, has given Welsh midfielder, Harry Wilson a Nigerian name after he scored a late brace against Brentford on Monday night, Soccernet.ng reports.
Wilson has struggled to break into Marco Silva’s starting eleven, with his last start coming in May. This season, he’s played six Premier League games, all from the substitute’s bench.
Nonetheless, he made great impact at Craven Cottage on Monday night, scoring a late double in additional time to cancel out Vitaly Janelt’s opener in the first half. The scenes at the Stadium went wild, and as a result, earned Wilson a new name from Nigerian defender, Calvin Bassey.
“Last night was mental. That was a big one for the fans, it’s a really big one. Oluwa Harry, is the man for the moment. He needs to have his moment because he’s been working very hard.
You know, he’s not been starting recent games, but he’s been working hard, and all credit should go to him. I’m happy for him,” the former Ajax defender said in an interview with Fulham TV.

In the same vein, former Arsenal midfielder, Alex Iwobi, revealed he was elated by Wilson’s late double, and posted a photoshopped image of the Welshman in Nigerian attire.
“Out of ten, the night was an eleven. It was a great night with epic scenes. I would say we need more nights like that, but leaving it till the last minute is not good for everyone’s hearts.”
